La Rinascente
In 2011, I was asked by the department store La Rinascente to design eight Christmas windows for their Milan, Italy location. After my sketches were approved, a sculpting company in Turin built the seven-foot tall sculptures. They debuted in early November and the public reaction was amazing; many people loved them and had their photo taken in front of their favorite window. In 2013 the sculptures were shipped to Bangkok, Thailand, where they went on display in the Central Chidlom Department Store. Then, in 2017, the sculptures were to be included in the exhibition “Luna Park: The Design Island” at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in central Seoul, South Korea. Unfortunately, the sculptures had disintegrated while in storage, so three of them were rebuilt from my existing photographs and drawings. Using 3D mapping to create separate parts that would be assembled on site, the new sculptures proved to be so popular that they became part of the show as it traveled to China and other countries in Asia.
